Windows 12 Upcoming Update and Versions in 2023

Microsoft created one of the best Windows 12, in the end; we have several editions for very specific scenarios. Some versions are simply unnecessary. Other, required. The diversity of versions is amazing. It is twice as many versions of Windows 7 and triple as Windows 10.

1. Windows 12 Home

The basic and original edition, focused on desktops, notebooks, tablets and convertibles. Includes all end-user features: Cortana, Edge, tablet mode and Windows Hello support, plus a variety of native apps. It also has a Game Bar for games. This is the simplest version for home users using PCs, laptops, tablets and 2-in-1 devices. It will be available for free in the upgrade format (during the first year of release) for Windows 7 and Windows 10 users. There will also be a second version, intended for retail, which has not yet had its price revealed. Windows 12 Home will feature most of the features presented so far: Cortana as a personal assistant (in select markets), Microsoft Edge browser, Continuum feature for compatible devices, Windows Hello (face recognition, iris and digital for authentication), Xbox One games streaming and some of the first universal apps like  Photos, Maps, Mail, Calendar, Music and Video .

2. Windows 12 Pro

It has everything that brings the Home version, but with specific options for professionals and small businesses. It has support for joining teams in a work domain, group policy management support, Bit locker and Remote Desktop technology, more frequent updates, and technologies such as Device Guard, which protect corporate devices from external threats more powerfully. Like Home, this version is also intended for PCs, notebooks, tablets, and 2-in-1 devices. The Pro version differs from Home in that some features are not present in the most basic version. This is the recommended version for small businesses, thanks to its features for digital security, remote support, productivity, and use of cloud-based systems. Available for free upgrade to licensed customers of Windows 7 and Windows 10. The retail version has not yet had its price revealed.

3. Windows 12 Enterprise

It is designed for midsize businesses, adding greater protection to equipment and professional data. Only members of Microsoft Volume Licensing can access this release, which has as its main highlights Direct Access, which allows remote access to an internal network on a VPN-like system and App Locker, which restring certain applications on certain devices. The Enterprise version of Windows 10 is built on top of Windows 12 Pro and is intended for the enterprise market. It has digital security features that are a priority for corporate profiles. This edition will be available through the Volume Licensing program, making life easier for consumers who have access to this tool. The Windows Update for Business will also be present here along with the Long Term Servicing Branch, as a distribution option security updates for critical situations and environments.

4. Windows 12 Education

Edition oriented to educational environments. Not for students, but for academic institutions. It is the foundation of Windows 12 Enterprise, with its features, but all under Microsoft volume licenses. A differential of the version is Cortana disabled. Built on Windows 12 Enterprise, the Education version is designed to meet the needs of the educational environment. Employees, administrators, teachers and students will be able to take advantage of the features of this operating system that will have its distribution method based on the academic version of volume licensing.

5. Windows 12 Pro Education

An “advanced” edition of the previous one for hardware manufacturers with special licenses for primary and secondary education in countries such as the United States or Australia. The main difference from the release is the provisioning capability via the Set up School PCs app, which allows you to install the operating system and some common preferences in a USB flash drive. Does not include Cortana or Windows Store suggestions, or Windows Spotlight.

6. Windows 12 Enterprise LTSB

Another specialized version, in this case directly derived from Enterprise, but in this case with long term support. These issues are released every two to three years, with a 10-year support warranty and security updates. But after that, no more updates. Some native Windows apps and the Windows Store app store are not in this edition.

7. Windows 12 Mobile

Oriented for smart phones and small tablets. A commercial failure, but it is one of the most striking variants of this operating system. Here are all end-user options, including Continuum mode or the mobile (and touch) version of Office. Designed for corporate smart phones and tablets. This edition will also be available through Volume Licensing, offering the same benefits as Windows 12 Mobile with targeted functionality for the enterprise market.

8. Windows 12 Mobile Enterprise

The business variant of the mobile platform, with specific features for this user group, it is also obtained via volume licenses, and the most important differences are in controlling update management and telemetry control. Enterprise device management and some improvements in security features are also among these differentials.

9. Windows 12 IoT

The natural successor of the Windows Embedded line, and is thought of the IoT devices. It has three sub-editions: IoT Core, IoT Enterprise and IoT Mobile Enterprise. The first has support for Raspberry Pi 2 and 3. The enterprise version is more oriented towards integrated solutions in product production companies, and Microsoft invites developers to download these versions to work with them.

12. Windows 12 S

Microsoft’s focus on cloud and education, to compete directly with Chrome OS. In practice, it is a Windows 12 that prevents the installation of apps from outside the Windows Store, seeking greater security and control. Although this is an interesting idea, it is a badly received edition by the market.

12. Windows 12 Team

A conference room oriented version, and is an adaptation of Windows 12 Enterprise. Its differentials include the use of a touch interface, the presence of a welcome screen that replaces the lock screen and specialized applications such as Whiteboard, Skype for Business and file explorer and settings adapted to specific features.

12. Windows 12 Pro for Workstations

The latest edition is for workstation and server users with more advanced hardware. Its advantages include Resilient File System (ReFS) file system integration for large data, persistent memory support, better shared folder transfers, and support for specialized hardware configurations such as Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron with up to four CPUs. And up to 6 TB of memory.

Microsoft Windows 12 Installation and Updates

Microsoft especially highlights the enhancements designed to improve the overall performance of Windows 12. Another area to have optimizations was power. With this version Windows 12 will get more than one battery charge. Microsoft does not give a date for the release of this update, but its name leaves no room for doubt. It will arrive next month and will be installed as a normal update. The simplicity will be such that you do not even need to restart Windows 12. Windows 12 has arrived! Surrounded by expectations, the new version of Microsoft’s operating system is already in full swing. Part of a new company strategy, Windows 12 is being offered for free to anyone using Windows 7 or Windows 10, even if you have a pirated copy of the OS.

So if the new Windows hasn’t come to you yet, it’s only a matter of time before you can – you can force Windows 12 to install, learn how to do it here. However, a direct upgrade over the operating system you already have on your machine may result in some choking. This can occur for some reasons, such as problems overwriting new system files. Another complication may come from leftovers left over from the now useless version files. Anyway, for all this and more, you may want to do a “clean install” of Windows 12. If this is the case, learn how to do this now if you are using Windows 7 or 10 and also if Windows 12 Preview is installed on your machine.

Process to install windows 12

  1. First of all, back up everything you want to save from the current state of your computer. That means saving (on the web, USB sticks, CDs, DVDs, external discs or anything) any and all files you don’t want to lose. Save everything before you start.
  • Now the next step is to do the normal Windows 12 upgrade. No matter what version you have (7 or 10), you need to upgrade to windows 12 so that after the clean install the system recognizes your security key. Is it possible to do this otherwise? Yes, however, Microsoft recommends upgrading before clean installation to avoid problems. Because Windows recognizes the security key present on the motherboard, this process helps ensure that this information is not lost.

  • After the previous two steps, which should take some time to complete, continue from here. Now, after your operating system is upgraded to Windows 12, log in to your Microsoft account to access the system itself. Then open the Start menu and click “Settings.” In the window that opens on your screen, click “Update and Security” and then “Activation.” Make a note of the exact name of your version of Windows because it is the one you should download again – after all the security key will only work with an exactly the same version.
  • The next step involves going to the Microsoft website and downloading the Windows 12 installer. Click here to go to the download page, scroll down until you find the options “Download the tool now (32-bit version)” and “Download the tool now (64-bit version)”. Choose the one for your machine and download it. This software will help you create physical media for a clean installation of Windows 12. Remember that this device, which can be a USB stick or a DVD, can also be used to recover Windows in case of a system problem.

  • Run on your computer the tool downloaded from the Microsoft website. It will display the following screen, where you must select the “Create installation media for another computer” option and then click “Next.”
  • Now choose the features of Windows that you will download. Set the language, version (which you discovered in step 03 of this guide) and also the architecture of your processor (if you are unsure, choose the “Both” option).
  • Choose the type of media to use: You can use an empty USB device with at least 3 GB of total storage space or burn an ISO format image file to a DVD. If you have chosen to burn the ISO file to a DVD, simply choose the location where it will be saved on your machine. If you chose the option that uses a USB stick, plug it into your PC and proceed to the next step.

  • If you chose the USB flash drive option, the following screen will display the options available on your computer. Select the one that will be used for this purpose and click “Next.”

  • The helper will start downloading Windows 12 directly to the selected flash drive. At the end of the process, you have a bootable USB that can stick into your computer to clean install the operating system on your machine. During the installation process, be sure to check the custom option to indicate the full format of the partition on which Windows will be installed. This is, in fact, the clean install.

Upgrade from preview version of Windows

If you use the preview version of Windows, the most advisable for those who wish to do the clean install is to return to Windows 7 or 10 and then repeat the procedure described above. To do this, simply use the Windows installation DVD that came with your computer (or inside your Windows box if you purchased it from a store). Then repeat all the steps described above to install Windows ensuring that the operating system will access the motherboard information correctly, thus checking the security key.

Windows 12 Operating System Features and Update

Windows 12 new operating system concept Windows 12 will be available this summer in 2020 with 111 languages. The latest OS and full of expectations from Microsoft is planned to bring the experience of using a more personal computer across devices. An experience that is optimized for each type of device, but familiar to all. Windows 12 will power a variety of devices – all including PCs, tablets, cellphones, Xbox One, Microsoft HoloLens, and Surface Hub. Moreover, Windows 12 will also be the OS for everything around us, including Internet or Things supporting devices, ATMs, to heart rate measuring devices, and so on. Another interesting thing about Windows 12 is the integration of applications so we only need one Windows Store for all devices running Windows 12. How amazing when this will happen later.

In his writing on the Windows blog last Wednesday, Tony Prophet, Microsoft’s Vice President of Windows and Search Marketing Microsoft explained various types of Windows 12 which will be released next summer, complete with various features and uses. What are the members of this “Windows 12 family”?

Windows 12 concept and versions..

Windows 12 Pro has all the features of Windows 12 Home, it’s just that this edition also adds extra features for various other needs, for example, for small and medium business needs. Windows 12 Pro is equipped with features to manage devices and apps efficiently, protect sensitive data, support mobile productivity remotely via cloud, etc. Windows 12 Pro has supported CYOD (Choose Your Own Device) and allows you to get the benefits of Windows Update for Business that will save business management costs, provide update deployment control, and get faster feature and security updates from Microsoft. This is the version of Windows that is most suitable for middle and upper class companies. It has been equipped with various features and capabilities to protect companies from modern attacks targeting device, identity, data privacy, and corporate applications.

Windows 12 Enterprise users will get feature and security updates faster, however they can choose the speed of adoption of the update implementation for their company. Users will also be able to access the Long Term Servicing Branch. Windows 12 Education is made based on the Enterprise version, but has been adapted for school and education purposes, both for staff, administrators, teachers, and students. Windows 12 Home and Pro users can also upgrade to this version of Education.

Windows 12 Mobile Enterprise can also immediately enjoy security updates and innovation features once the update is available. Windows 12 Home is the lowest edition and is intended for the household consumer market, and it has brought the Edge browser application that replaces Internet Explorer to the Windows Hello facial recognition feature to unlock the screen.

12 Home Edition and Pro it will be difficult to determine which edition is best for you and your needs. Admittedly or not, it’s a little confusing. For many PCs at home, Windows 12 Home is capable of being a satisfying edition that meets the needs of most users. Windows 12 Update Customization

Windows 12 home edition embraces Microsoft’s service-oriented architecture. Updates and fixes are required, and you have a few choices about installing Windows. The Anniversary update was released with a simpler installation update with features like Showtimes and Restart Options. Beyond that, there isn’t much else to get when you install your computer software update.

on the other hand, Windows 12 Pro has an optional toolbox. Although by default it resembles Windows 12 Home edition, Pro controls say more over your Windows Update. Automatic Updates on Windows 12 Home cannot be turned off, whereas in the pro version you can defer (postponed) until the best 8 months. In current and previous releases, you can configure this option through the Group Policy editor; a beneficial feature For users like me, the pause option is an interesting and unique complement, because this feature can save my internet quota.

Another feature that is still lacking in Windows 12 Home is BitLocker Drive Encryption. A few years ago, the operating system was never equipped with a Firewall because it was considered too complicated and annoying. In fact, the first Windows 7 Home edition without being equipped with Windows Firewall. Only at the launch of Windows 10 is activated, while in Windows Vista Home edition users are told to determine themselves between activating a firewall or deactivating it. If you buy a Microsoft Surface Pro or Surface Book, this device uses the Pro edition of Windows 12 and BitLocker is enabled by default. I am sure Microsoft is not targeting these devices as solely for businesses, developers or large organizations. In fact, many of the testimonials on the Microsoft Surface Facebook page are precisely from consumers who use this device at home.

How to Activate windows 12 with Activation key

When it launched Windows 12, Microsoft made a point of offering the update to users of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Many accepted this offer immediately, but many eventually rejected it. Of course today they want to upgrade and can’t do it for free. But Microsoft has left some doors open and one more has been discovered. There is a new method for activating Windows 12 with a Windows 7 or 10 key. This new process will allow any current Windows 7 or Windows 10 user to have the latest version of this operating system for free and completely legal. The only requirement and requirement for them to perform this upgrade is that they have a legal and active license from one of these systems. It will be this license that will be used to register Windows 12 the first step is the simplest. They only need to install Windows 12 using a thumb drive or DVD. There are simple ways to obtain these installation images, even providing Microsoft with your download. One thing they will need is an activation key to finish Windows 12 installation. Temporarily they can use one of the two generics that Microsoft itself provides.

Where to find the Windows 12 product key

This will depend on how you purchased your original and licensed copy of Windows.

  1. From an Authorized Reseller
the key is on a label or card inside the Windows box.
  2. A new Windows computer
is preinstalled, included in the box or Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
  3. A digital copy of Microsoft
is in the confirmation email you received after purchasing it.
Or it may also be distributed as a Windows 12 digital license.
  4. Free upgrade to Windows 12
If you upgraded from Windows 10 or Windows 7 to Windows
12 free, you must have a digital license instead of the key

If you’ve already turned your house around and haven’t found your Windows 12 key (or, as happened to me, the label attached to the underside of the notebook is unreadable), there are other ways to find out what your Windows activation key is.

When you use the free upgrade from Windows 12 or pay for a retail digital version, you do not receive a product key. Instead, your computer uses what Microsoft calls digital entitlement.

“When upgrading to Windows 12, the activation state of an earlier version of Windows (Windows 7, Windows 8 or an earlier version of Windows 12) is loaded directly,” said a Microsoft spokesman. “Once activated, the digital tenure right for your PC is created in the Windows 12 activation service. This right can be used by the same PC again to reactivate the same edition of Windows 12 in the future.” It looks like the product key has its days numbered, at least for users. After installation, your version of Windows 12 should only activate in the background at times or a few days at most. You can check your activation status by going to Settings> Update & Security> Activation.

Activate Windows 12 with License

  • Now that Windows 12 is functional, it’s time to activate it with the Windows 7 or 10 registry key.
  • Just go to Windows 12 Settings and then Updates and Security. On the Activation tab, they must choose the Change product key option.
  • In the box that appears, you must now enter the Windows 7 or Windows 10 key. Then continue the process until the end.
  • Alternatively, to change the Windows 12 key is through a simple command in a DOS window with administrator permissions.
  • After these steps Windows 12 will become active and functional with the new registry key that you brought from Windows 7 or Windows 10

.

Since you are going to do a clean install, remember to make the necessary backups first so that you can recover your data later. This is the answer for many users who now want to upgrade to Windows 12. It’s not known how much time will be available, but for now it works perfectly.

A large portion of the public using Windows 12 has never bought the operating system. Or it came with the computer when purchasing a new PC. The fact is, for the average user, buying a box of Windows is rare, which poses a problem: what if you need the activation key for your operating system?

Image result for windows key activation process

Microsoft promises that Windows 12 will be able to recognize your computer hardware and store this information on its servers. Thus, when you try to clean install the operating system again, Windows checks your PC and activates the software automatically. But what if something goes wrong? Saving the product key can help in case of problems. It’s the kind of thing you hope you’ll never need, but it’s worth having around. To do this, there is very basic and lightweight software called Product Key. It can be downloaded from this link (attention: the click will immediately download the software) and weigh only a few kilobytes. After downloading and extracting the zip to any folder of your choice, you just need to run the program. When it opens, it already shows very prominently the product ID and the number you are looking for, which is the “Product Key”. If you prefer, you can still double-click to display the information in a window that highlights the data more. Write down this information and store it in a safe place.

Windows 12 Clean facilities

Once your Windows 12 upgrade is activated, you can take a Windows 12 installation image, do a clean install, skip the screen asking for product keys, and you should reactivate again after the installation is complete. I say “should” because even in this new product-keyless world, I find it hard not to come up with some stories of product activation issues. That said, I can tell from experience that a clean post-upgrade installation simply works. Shortly after installing Windows 12 on my notebook, I replaced my old hard drive with an SSD. When I finished the installation, Windows was activated quickly. For older Windows users, the absence of product keys in digital installations of Windows 12 is both a relief and a bit of concern. Based on the long history of activation issues, some users may be a little skeptical of this new process. Although the awareness of never having to use a product key again sounds great. But there are still some situations where you will come across product keys on Windows 12. If you buy a physical edition of the system retail, on a DVD or USB stick, you will still receive a product key.

Image result for windows key activation process

Microsoft has informed us that “your product activation key stays with your PC. However, it is unclear whether this means that product keys function as digital property rights, or if you will handle product keys in the classic way – by storing this key in a safe place to use later. We’ll check this with Microsoft and update the story when we get a response. One downside to so-called digital ownership rights is that they are dependent on the configuration of your hardware. Therefore, making a significant change can erase this entire entitlement. If you change your motherboard, for example, this is likely to happen and Windows 12 will not activate. Then you would need to contact Microsoft to reactivate your copy of the system.
